When headed out for vacations, most people either have a friend or family member watch their pets or board them in a kennel. It’s not often pets tag along for the ride, especially cats. But this cat named Delilah decided to say ‘fluff it’ and planned to join her family on their vacation!

Delilah Goes from Maine to Wisconsin
Driving from Maine to Wisconsin is an extremely long drive. But the Scholten family decided the trip was worth it to attend the EAA AirVenture event in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. So they packed their bags and loaded up their pop-up trailer in their hometown of Saint Albans, ME. And off they went!
In Toledo, Ohio they decided to stop off to rest for the night and continue their adventure in the morning. That’s when they opened the pop-up camper, and out popped their cat, Delilah! The kitty wasn’t supposed to be on the trip, but she decided she didn’t want to be left at home. They aren’t quite sure, but they suspect she snuck in past the door and hid out with nobody the wiser.
“Delilah has joined us for Oshkosh 2022. She must have snuck in when Jay loaded the pillows this morning. The plan so far is to see how she does as a camper cat, if she doesn’t do well we’ll have to find a kennel.”
Delilah Becomes Internet Sensation with #stowawayoshkoshcat
Since the discovery of their stowaway, the family had to quickly make a store run to pick up everything the camper cat would need. That especially included a collar with her name written on it in case she wandered off.
By that time, she was an internet sensation.
“We put a story up with a photo of her and people thought it was hysterical,” Scholten said. “They were commenting ‘We want more Delilah,’ so we did. Every day a couple of times a day, I would put up a post, and we used the hashtag … People loved Delilah.”

We love Deliah too! She looks so happy being with her family on a road trip. Photos of her were continuously posted by Scholten on Facebook of their adventure, including when they reached the AirVenture event! By the time they reached Oshkosh, she was such a delight that a skywriter drew a face of a cat just for her.
Delilah was virtually joined by many watching the air show and then enjoying herself at Niagara Falls.
Now, the family plans to bring Delilah to next year’s AirVenture event. Even cats need a vacation!
