Delilah was a stray in Cumberland, Maryland in September, 2016, who was hit by a car and then taken to North Branch Animal Hospital where I work as a vet tech. The moment I saw her, I thought she was so cute and I had tears in my eyes because I just felt so bad for her. She couldn’t move at all and her arms were out completely straight. Her X-ray showed that her back was broken and her spinal cord was completely severed. She was just a puppy only between six and nine months old and she’d be paralyzed for life. At that point, Dr. Jeremy made a decision with his heart and he decided to give her a chance at life. Luckily he did, because 10 days later, she was healthy enough to leave the hospital. I immediately adopted her. 

She is pretty much like any other dog. She runs and plays and zooms and tears up stuff that she’s not supposed to. Big difference being that she wears a diaper and she can’t pee by herself so we express her bladder. She literally has no idea that she’s different. She was put in her wheelchair about six days after her injury and she just took off. So we knew that she was going to be okay. She loves to snuggle in, is always ready for a nap. She is an amazing big sister to her 1-year-old brother. We are so happy that she was given a chance at life and can’t imagine our family without her.
