Maisie or Maisie Pibble, as we lovingly refer to her was my third quarantine foster from Lost Dog and Cat Rescue. I was fully intending to adopt out all of my fosters because I had to go back to work at some point, but Maisie wiggled her way into our hearts and I suddenly found myself not wanting to answer her emails from potential adopters. That’s when I realized that she was the dog that I’ve been waiting for so long, and there would be no giving her up.

Maisie is a Southern belle. Our rescue took her in from Georgia, where she had been patiently waiting for weeks for a forever home. Our rescue saved her from being put down due to overcrowding and no interest from adopters. I am so eternally grateful that they saved her. The first day that we picked her up to bring her home to foster, she was wiggling all over the place and she was just so, so happy to be able to snuggle with us on the couch.

I was in awe because I had never met such a trusting, cuddling, loving dog before. All she wanted to do was just lay on us and lick us to death. She loves everyone and she relishes belly rubs. Nowadays, Maisie’s favorite hobbies are snuggles and naps with the loudest snores that you’ll ever hear, eating almost anything to include 12 oatmeal cookies, playdates with her dog friends and fetching with her most favorite toy in the world, her beloved piggy. I still wonder how somebody could have let Maisie go but that’s the thing of the past. Now, she’s only two and she has so much more of her life with us to live. From quarantine on, Maisie is living her best life with lots of yummy treats, endless piggy fetching, and so much love.
