Vannah Vercetti resides in Weslaco, Texas, and shares her home with a number of cats because she has a strong bond with the feline species. However, recent torrential rains in Texas have led to severe flooding along the state’s southern coast, endangering the lives of numerous residents as well as animals.

The couple chose to put all of their cats in a secure location away from the flood, but one cheeky kitten made the decision to hide beneath the home, and the current of the water then made it impossible for her to escape. When the family heard the kitten sobbing, they became aware of this:

Vannah attempted to help as much as she could from outside her home. When she started to lose heart, she rushed inside and saw that her husband was using a hammer to pound on the hardwood floor in order to save the cat and get to her through the hole.

You can hear how upset Vannah was on the video recording at the crucial point when she threatened to take one of her kittens and put it to a horrible death.
“I’m sorry I was crying, gentlemen. My kitties are very special to me. It’s incredibly difficult to lose a pet, but I couldn’t accept that it had drowned.

Fortunately, Vannah’s husband was as committed to acting to preserve Blanca. After numerous unsuccessful attempts to shatter it, he finally succeeds in creating a hole where he can see the kitten’s head and grab it from there to save her.

Despite the fact that everything was becoming more submerged in water, Blanca had managed to find a spot on the ground where she could still get a little fresh air. Regardless of the harm the home had to sustain, you can see the owners’ immense relief after the kitten is safe:
“I’d rather have a hole in my house’s floor than a hole in my heart.”
In order to raise the funds necessary to send the cat to the doctor and repair the damage to their home’s floor, the family has now set up a GoFundMe campaign. She wants to save up $1,000 to pay for all the pets.
Ten street cats that live with Vannah and her husband were saved by them.
