Rob Acua Jr. was driving home from work along an overpass in Houston, Texas, when something caught his attention – a fortunate glance that ended up saving a life.
“As I drove by, I spotted a minor hump on the motorway wall that just happened to look like a little face,” Acua told The Dodo. “Because it had been a long day and I was exhausted, I honestly felt I was seeing things.”
Acua kept on, but a thought persisted in his mind: What if that lump was alive?
Acua decided to double-check a few minutes later. He exited the motorway, turned around, and returned to the location. And that’s a good thing he did.
Acua looked and looked for the “bump” while driving slowly along the overpass with his danger lights on, only to realize that it was a scared small cat.

Acua’s instincts had been correct, and he’d saved the day as a result.
“I was in full disbelief the whole time!” Acua said. “I wouldn’t believe it happened if I hadn’t seen it on tape!”
The kitty, who her rescuer believes was abandoned there, was shocked. But, because to Acua’s fast thinking, he was able to save her.
“I knew I only had seconds to react,” he said.
Acua then returned home to feed and bathe the cat.
Pepper was the name he and his family gave her.
Pepper’s traumatic past is now completely behind her, even though some heartless person had intentionally put her in that life-threatening predicament.
“She is doing great, I can tell.” said Acua. “She is starting to break out of her shell and truly show the world how spunky and precious she is now that she has had a few days to unwind and rest. It is quite difficult to think she was ever in that predicament in the first place.”
Acua and his family frequently open their homes to foster stray or abandoned pets while searching for their permanent families. They are no strangers to animal rescue.
Pepper is obviously in wonderful care, and Acua is adamant that she continue that way.
After hearing about Pepper’s trauma, many individuals have expressed interest in adopting her, but Acua is still deciding what will be best for Pepper moving forward.
He stated, “We genuinely adore Pepper and are confident that, if we don’t keep her, we will find her the greatest home through a rescue. “There are so many more strays in need, which is what we really want people to know (because I’ve gotten thousands of messages asking if someone can adopt her)! They still deserve the same amount of love and care just though they lack a spectacular film to go along with them.”
