A late-night text for help leads to a happy ending for one tiny cute kitten.
A feline rescue in Westchester County, NY, Furrr 911, frequently takes in kittens in emergencies. When you rescue animals, there’s no telling when a call for help will come (Or how often). Sometimes, it can be late at night, as was the case with a tiny ginger tabby recently.

Text for Help at 12:21 am
One night at 12:21 am, the rescuers received the one-word text: “Help.”
“A text at 12:21 am, simply saying ‘Help’ should never be a good thing. However, for this little guy named Milton, it certainly was!” they wrote on Facebook.
Earlier in the day, someone posted about hearing a crying kitten, asking for someone to come get him. Alone and afraid, the kitten was trapped behind a chain-link fence for the whole day, the rescuers said.
By the time night had fallen, help was on the way for Milton. And, they knew just what to do to locate him with an app.
“Fortunately, some friends were available to check this situation out late that same night. Playing sounds of kittens crying on an app got Milton all excited, and he meowed back in response. By making himself heard, he got himself rescued.”
Welcome to the Good Life
Safe in the rescuers’ hands, Milton proved to be overall healthy and as sweet as he looked. Certainly, it was a relief since they often save animals from dire circumstances.
“Milton is a spunky, yet sweet, kitten. Thankfully, he appears healthy (which is a nice change from what we have been seeing lately). Welcome to the good life, little one!”
Responding to the post, people expressed interest in adopting Milton. But first, he’ll need to stay in foster care until he’s old enough to be neutered and receive vaccines. Meanwhile, the rescuers have their hands full with neonatal kittens during spring kitten season.
Among them were litters of kittens arriving at 11:11 pm and 11:15 pm and not in good shape like Milton. Merely reading the details can be upsetting, much less doing the dirty work on the ground. Such is often the case for rescuers who do their best to save each life in extreme situations. They keep doing their best despite the heartbreak, exhaustion, and frustration. Thanks to donations, they can continue to answer those desperate texts and calls for help.

What Kind of Kittens are These?
It’s not always kittens that need saving. Recently, Furrr 911 took in three baby opossums, for instance. First, they rescued Polly Pocket Possum, who was alone by a chicken coup in someone’s backyard. Fortunately, the rescue’s wildlife rehabilitator could provide expert care for the baby. After Polly, they took in two more opossums, Patrick Possum and Petey Possum.
While overflowing with kittens, the rescuers do their best for these cute babies who will hopefully return to the wild one day.
