A two-week-old kitten and her siblings were discovered in a window and transported to the Anderson Animal Shelter in Illinois, United States. The babies required round-the-clock care, were bottle-fed, and were lavished with affection from the volunteers.

Alyssa Masten, a volunteer, received a call from the shelter asking her to take in the kittens, and she gladly accepted. Cloud, one of the kittens, was the most watchful and calm of them all. He appeared to be bashful and remained on the sidelines, observing everything going on around him.

“While his littermates battled it out to be the first to eat, he waited patiently.”

Cloud began to exhibit symptoms and health issues a few weeks after his arrival. Fluids, probiotics, special meals, and drugs were given to her twice a day. While the vet looked for an issue with his health, Alyssa concentrated on providing the best care she could, making sure he stayed hydrated.

The foster mother attempted a variety of therapies while remaining optimistic. She was resolved to assist him in regaining his health.

Alyssa explains:

“He also had an upper respiratory illness on the way.” He was in excruciating pain, but he was determined to survive. He didn’t have the energy to play, but kneading his blankets and eating spoonfuls of chicken baby food he offered brought him delight.”

Regardless of his health issues, Cloud was always cheerful and relaxed. The tiny child always appeared as peaceful as possible when he had his exams at the shelter, clutching to his blanket.

Alyssa went on to say:

“He weighed and measured a fifth of what he should have. Her development had been impeded by the sickness.”

They were finally able to offer a diagnosis three months following their arrival. Cloud had an unusual intestinal illness and was also infected with FCoV, a virus that is quite prevalent in cats.

When they were the correct size, the kitten siblings soon found their permanent homes, but Cloud was still healing and had a long way to go.

Alyssa explains:

“A heavy round of antibiotics got rid of the intestinal illness, but the FCoV was still there.” You’ll always deal with sneezing, congestion, and an exceedingly sensitive digestive system. The veterinarian determined that it was a hospice case.”
