The Animal Welfare League of Arlington in Arlington, Virginia, recently received a litter of kittens. Volunteers from the Kitten College program worked hard to bring them ahead, but two virtually identical kittens required special care. Lauren Strycula, a shelter volunteer, took the kitten pair into her house.

They were so little that they cuddled close together to keep warm. They had several health issues, notably Jace, the youngest, who needed a time to learn to feed from a bottle; Jackie, his sister, supported him.

Both kittens benefited from the attention and meds. They acquired weight and began to develop personalities. Jackie, for her part, was extremely lively and playful, and Jace was already sucking from the bottle and moving her ears in the process.

The kittens had gone a long way in a short time; they learnt to play in the sandbox, they started exploring, and they even learned to eat off a plate.

They developed their own identities; Jace became a mischievous child, while Jackie was considerably calmer than her brother on her own, but they always sought one other’s proximity. They were inextricably linked.

Lauren thought it was time to find them a forever home now that they were self-sufficient and in good health. A couple hoping to adopt fell in love with the kittens after seeing images of them on the Animal Welfare League of Arlington’s Instagram.

Alexandra and Bryan arrived at the rescue facility and realized that they would make an excellent family for the kittens.

Lauren stated:

“I’ll never forget the kittens’ effervescent delight in life, their instant trust in everyone they encountered, their silly, infectious personalities, and their lovely affection for one another. My part in the twins’ journey is coming to an end, but their happily ever after begins right now.”

The kittens reacted extremely well to their new surroundings, and they quickly began to examine everything.

Alexandra explains:

“We gradually introduced them to the rest of the house. They were bouncing off the walls and full of energy within hours of being home.”

Whiskey and Pippa were the names given to the cats by their new owners. Their first night was spent in the bed of their new parents. Whiskey fell slept sweetly on her father’s shoulder in the morning.

Alexandra continued, saying:

“Dad discovered some cat music meant to help them relax about midnight that night. They had climbed into bed with us and snuggled up next to us before we realized it!”

The cute kitties do just about everything together; they have an amazing bond. His mother says that they always play together and if one of them strays a little they cry when they feel alone. The siblings sleep and eat together, even using the litter box at the same time; they are best friends and run around the house together.

Alexandra added:

“They love to lay in the window hammock during the day and watch people walk by with dogs; the birds are especially intriguing. When they’re not running, they quickly climb into our laps and snuggle up to us with the loudest purrs.”

The family is very happy that the almost identical kittens were able to stay together, their bond is incredible. The parents of these little ones hope to inspire more families to adopt in pairs; keeping these little ones together for them was the best decision.
