Heartbroken Cat Finds Comfort Sniffing His Dog Friend’s Collar

Zeus lost Sam, a sweet little dog that had kept him company for years, two months ago. He grieved much as a result of this loss, and he couldn’t control his joy when he discovered his necklace a few days earlier.

Many people have a misconception about the relationship between a cat and a dog, but this pair of best friends has debunked it. Despite their different species and temperaments, they were inseparable.

The mother of Zeus and Sam, Emma Catanzarite, told The Dodo:

“Zeus was always trying to snuggle and play with Sam… Zeus was always teasing him.”

Sam was always tolerant of Zeus; it was his primary means of expressing his love for him, and when Sam died, Zeus’ heart was devastated entirely.

Emma stated,

“After Sam died, Zeus appeared to be quite lonely. He stalked my mother more during the day and meowed for hours after she passed away, as though she was hunting for him. My mother stepped into the room the day Sam died to discover Zeus lying on top of him, as though he had finally gotten a chance to snuggle up to him.”

When Kitten discovers his departed friend’s jewelry, he is overcome with sorrow.
When Zeus discovered Sam’s jewelry, he saw it as a chance to reconnect with him.

Emma’s brother’s room had this jewelry on a shelf.

“Zeus rushed up and sat close to the necklace after smelling on the shelf. It made me so sad to watch how relieved he was to find him and scent Sam once more.”

We don’t know if finding the necklace helped Zeus mend his heart, but it was clearly a memorable occasion for him.

Emma stated,

“When he found out, he was overjoyed. I believe this was beneficial to him.”
