The frigid weather in Indiana, United States appeared to be fairly intense a few days ago at night. Some individuals were driving down the road when they noticed what they thought was a giant lump of snow and ice on the side of the road. When they went a bit closer and examined more attentively, they noticed it was a homeless cat in horrible shape.

When they noticed a set of eyes glow with the reflection of the car’s headlights, they stopped to investigate and discovered that it was a cat covered in snow. She was in poor condition, huddled together urgently trying to remain warm. The feline was little more than skin and bones but she seemed to be pregnant from her round belly.

The kind Samaritans took her in their car and contacted the Catsnip Etc shelter, a volunteer cat rescue center in Goshen, Indiana. During the journey the kitten purred, apparently grateful to her rescuers.

Catsnip Etc’s Missy McNeal stated:

“She never stopped purring because she was so nice and kind. I believe she realized she was secure. When we captured her, she had minor abrasions and bloodied toenails. We don’t know what happened to her before she was found.”

Camilla, the cat, was overjoyed to be in a warm environment. It’s unclear how long she suffered the bitter cold outside, but the kitty worked hard to keep her young safe.

Camila ate as much as she could before curling up and resting contentedly in her comfortable, warm nest.

She gave birth to four lovely and healthy babies on Valentine’s Day, just two days after being rescued.

Missy states:

“Except for the orange and white kittens, the kittens are all females. We are extremely appreciative to the kind individuals that came to fetch her up. Camilla feels quite fortunate to be secure and warm with her children. We had intended to have her for a longer period of time so she could be healthy before the twins arrived, but that did not happen. We are now on call every two hours.”

Camila was a devoted mother who was constantly on the watch for her children. Because the kitty was underweight, her milk supply did not arrive in time to nurse her kittens. Camilla would undoubtedly want assistance in feeding her four hungry children.

Missy remembers:

“She didn’t really recognize us the first day she had the babies, so when we went to her room, she would sit and cover them to protect them. She is more than pleased to visit each other and let us check on the tiny ones now that she understands we want to assist her and that we only bring positive things.”

Camilla is pleased and appreciative for the assistance she is receiving with feeding her kittens.

The rescue center volunteer went on to say:

“She is completely unconcerned when we arrive to assist them in feeding them. We believe she recognizes the need for more assistance and expresses gratitude. Camilla will continue to get milk if she continues to eat well, and the infants will continue to try to nurse.”

Camilla approaches her kittens and carefully wipes their faces as soon as they finish getting their bottles. Mom and her four babies are prospering swiftly as a result of the assistance she got that day on the road, and they will have many possibilities ahead of them.
