Anton Herashchenko, a former member of parliament and deputy minister at Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, is a major actor in the country’s politics.

But it’s clear that at home, he’s still obedient to a cat.

Herashchenko sat for an interview on Ukrainian television, his unsmiling face projected onto a massive screen, infusing the room with a somewhat solemn air.

That, however, did not last long.

Smack-dab A tail emerged on-screen in the middle of a serious debate. It was Herashchenko’s cat calling for his attention. And with that, the stiff-upper-lip interview was amusingly disrupted.

The interview appears to have continued normally after that, although Herashchenko, as a high-ranking official, apparently felt compelled to better introduce the cat for whom he works behind the scenes.

“Our treasure, Winston the cat, or rather his tail, unintentionally became a screen star,” Herashchenko said in a post. “In his usual smooth fashion, [he] clambered to my table to request his normal ration of attention.”

Herashchenko went on to call Winston a “aristocrat,” before expressing his passion for animals and connecting to a local animal shelter, asking his followers to consider donating to assist more cats like him.

Winston appears to be the one who pulls the strings.
