Cat Asks For Help Retrieving Hair Tie And Accidentally Reveals Her Hidden Stash

Aloe has always refused to play with traditional cat toys since she was a kitten. Instead, she messes about with hair ties. They are her absolute favorite thing in the entire world. Aloe is content as long as she has her hair ties.

Aloe’s mother recently observed her laying on the floor with her paw outstretched, apparently trying to retrieve something that had become caught under the washing machine. She assumed it was a hair tie and walked over to assist — only to discover a big surprise.

“I figured she had a single hair tie jammed under there, so I took a clothes hanger and slipped it under the washer,” Aloe’s mother, Anne Tam, told The Dodo. “Lo and behold, about 30 hair ties came out!”

When Aloe expressed her need for help, she unintentionally disclosed her hidden stash of hair ties, which wasn’t the goal — but she also enjoyed having them all put out in front of her like that, so it all worked out in the end.

“I think Aloe was in heaven when she saw them,” Tam added. “She sat there for a second, staring, and then began pawing at all of them” (which caused some of them to fly back underneath the washer). It was a very funny sight to behold.”

Of course, just because her mother discovered her stockpile doesn’t mean Aloe will stop accumulating hair ties. They’re her most valued belongings, and as long as they’re laying around, she’ll find a way to play with them and hide them.
