Cat Taught To Play Music For Treats Now Won’t Stop Tapping His Tiny Piano

Winslow is a nice, chubby cat with an ear for music. And an even stronger need for treats.
The two aren’t unrelated.
Kate Nyx, Winslow’s mother, is a musician who owns a number of instruments. Among them is this small piano, which is just the right size for little toddlers to learn on, and presumably cats as well.
Winslow appeared to like pawing at the keys from an early age.
“He’d strike the keys and then glance under to see where the sound was coming from,” Nyx said to The Dodo. “That’s how I got into playing the piano.”
However, Winslow’s enthusiasm in music soon soared to new heights.
Winslow became plumper than he should have been as he grew older. So his veterinarian advised Nyx to put him on a diet, which she did — but with one unique condition.
“I started splitting up his meals into tiny parts throughout the day and used the piano to ‘earn’ them,” Nyx said.
As a result, Winslow became an avid pianist. Perhaps a little too enthusiastic.
With Winslow equating playing music with obtaining food, Nyx’s house is rarely without the sound of a cat on the piano these days.
“He now plays all the time!” Nyx stated.
This may result in some amusing musical standoffs, as shown in the video:

“He’s a melodramatic guy,” Nyx remarked.
Given that Winslow is continuously trying to acquire treats, Nyx frequently rewards him with nutritious foods such as leafy greens.
After all, he deserves something for his minor contributions.
Interestingly, all of Winslow’s piano work has resulted in some notable improvements in his playing.
“He used to merely press the keys once or twice, and now he can play strings of notes without issue,” Nyx remarked.
In his mother’s perspective, this has made the already lovely cat much more charming.
Winslow is showing no signs of slowing down. And that’s just OK.
“Are there any times when he’s played that I wish he’d hold off for a second?” “It’s true,” Nyx confessed. “But ultimately, I’m pleased that my cat has inherited my musical talent.”
