Cat Is Returned To Shelter By Family For Being ‘Too Cuddly’

All Jacque needed was someone to love him, but the 3-year-old cat was constantly rejected.
Jacque’s previous owner went away, when he was around 7 months old, and did not take Jacque with him.
“He was discovered in a foreclosed residence. “The owner abandoned him and didn’t care,” Nancy Hutchinson, founder and president of Michigan Cat Rescue, told The Dodo. “He was discovered by the realtor and taken to the shelter.” Unfortunately, this happens pretty frequently.”
Because the shelter was overloaded with dogs and cats, and no one seemed interested in adopting Jacque, he was placed on the euthanasia list. Hutchinson’s visit, however, saved his life.
“When I saw him in his cage, I felt terrible for him,” Hutchinson added. “I unlocked his cage and… sat on the floor with him for a few minutes, and he sat on my lap.” ‘Wow,’ I thought. ‘What a sweet kitten.’”
Hutchinson rescued Jacque from the shelter and placed him in the hands of Michigan Cat Rescue, realizing how unique he was. Then she and the other volunteers looked for a place for him to live.
“We advertised him as a lap cat,” Hutchinson explained. “There was this woman who came along and adopted him.”
However, this did not turn out to be the lifelong home that everyone had dreamed for.
“After approximately a year,” Hutchinson claimed, “she said she didn’t want him anymore.” “She added, ‘He’s always wanting to sit in my lap – I can’t tolerate it any more.’ I’ll have to return him to you; this isn’t what I signed up for.”
Everyone in the rescue group was taken aback.
“Actually, it’s what she signed up for because she explicitly requested a lap cat,” Hutchinson explained. “But she simply grew bored of having him.”
When Jacque returned to the rescue crew, he was extremely agitated – and he became quite ill as a result.
“He didn’t eat for a couple of days,” Hutchinson explained. “I believe he was confused and upset by the rejection.” Stress can be extremely taxing — not only on humans, but also on animals — and it weakened his immune system. He was suffering from a severe upper respiratory infection, and his eyes were swollen and inflamed.”
The crew brought Jacque back to health and began hunting for him a new home. This time, though, they were much more picky.
“We had a lot of applications for him, but a lot of them weren’t right for his personality,” Hutchinson explained.
Then a woman called Liz Myziuk and her husband registered for Jacque’s adoption. Hutchinson had a good feeling about them, so she scheduled a meeting with Jacque.
“We met Liz and her husband at one of our veterinary facilities and put them in the same room,” Hutchinson explained. “I took him out of the container and let him move around a little.” Then they took him up and placed him in their laps, where he stayed. They were both sobbing and overjoyed – they were madly in love with him.”
“I left him with them in the room, and they came out and said, ‘We want to give him a home.’” ‘We’d want to take him,’ Hutchinson said. “I then burst into tears.” I was just overjoyed. I believe Jacque was relieved as well. I believe he realized he had finally found his happy ending.”
Jacque quickly adjusted to his new surroundings and even earned a new name — Giuseppe.
“They adore him,” Hutchinson stated. “He’s doing incredibly well. It’s simply fantastic.”
Hutchinson, who has a soft spot in her heart for Giuseppe, is overjoyed that he has finally found the family he deserves.
“We were really devastated when his owner returned him to us,” she added. “I was devastated for him, and I could see it hurt him as well.” So finding him the ideal home is simply a lovely, lovely thing to do. It makes me weep because that is why we do all of this, and why we fight every day to save their lives so they may enjoy wonderful, happy lives.”
