Kirill Georgiev was lying on one of the workplace couches one day last year when a small cat walked in — and hopped right onto his lap. He wasn’t sure how to react at first, but the cat was so cute and plainly needed a buddy that he realized what he had to do.

Georgiev told The Dodo, “She laid her paw on my chest and stared into my eyes.” “At that point, I thought to myself, ‘This is the perfect opportunity to finally take care of someone.’”

The kitten appeared to fall in love with Georgiev right away, and it was evident that she wasn’t giving him a choice. She had already resolved to accompany him home.

Georgiev brought the cat home that day, and she instantly became a member of his family. She adjusted into her new house as though it had always been her home. A year later, she has entire control of the household. She climbs to the roof and gets trapped, wants attention all day, and walks all over critical documents – yet her new dad couldn’t be more in love with her. He refers to her as Koshka, which is the Russian word for cat.

When Georgiev arrived at his workplace one morning, he saw a stray dog in front of the building. The poor dog was filthy, but otherwise appeared to be in good health. She approached him and gave him the identical look Koshka had given him a year before — and at that moment, he understood he, too, was a dog parent.

“I had no other choice,” Georgiev explained. “Dogs seem to like me, therefore I’m caring after her right now.”

Georgiev is now fostering Jessie and may try to find her a new permanent home later. In the meantime, he’ll continue to look after her and give her all the affection she plainly wasn’t receiving on the streets, and perhaps Koshka will be more tolerant of her new sister very soon.
