Chubby Shelter Cat Loves To Stand Like A Person To Beg For Treats

Bruno surrendered to Wright-Way Rescue in Illinois in April because he didn’t get along with his family’s children. Shelter workers believe it has more to do with Bruno’s weight. At 25 pounds, it would be difficult for him to escape from children anytime he wanted his privacy. Bruno is a big, goofy cat who just wants some love and attention — and who loves to show off for the people he cares about.

Bruno’s quirkiest trait is that he enjoys standing on his hind legs. He does it everytime he wants food, and with the way he poses and the gorgeous looks he makes while standing on his hind legs, it’s easy to see how this cat grew so plump.

“At 25 pounds, he definitely has to lose at least 10 pounds if he wants to live to be an old man,” Erin Thomas, a Wright-Way Rescue employee, told The Dodo. “Right now, we’re taking it one pound at a time.” “I feel his weight is due to being ‘overloved.’”

Bruno has a few odd behaviors and quirks other than posing on his hind legs. When he’s eating, he like to be petted. He’ll sit and look at you, mewing until you pet him. He can eat without being pet, but he enjoys the company for some reason. He also enjoys drinking water, but refuses to drink from kitchen water basins. Instead, he demands a number of water dishes strategically positioned throughout the home.

Bruno may be picky about a lot of things, but his biggest need is to spend as much time as possible with the people he cares about. He enjoys being near to his owners and will lay on the floor with them wherever they are. He’s now at a foster home where he enjoys relaxing, but what he truly wants is a forever home with a family who will adore him for who he is, quirks and all.

Bruno would thrive in a home without small children, with a family that would keep him active and playful so he may continue his weight loss journey. Otherwise, all he wants is a family he can be close to at all times — and who will appreciate his cute little quirks and think he’s adorable when he stands on his hind legs, of course.

“Some lucky family out there is going to get this handsome boy and they will absolutely adore him,” Thomas said.
