Kitty Schaub is a photographer who usually does newborn photo shoots, so when her family got an 8-week-old cat, she saw an opportunity for a wonderful picture shoot.
After their friend’s cat delivered kittens, Schaub and her husband adopted Luna for their 5-year-old daughter, Amelie. Amelie and Luna have been great friends since the day they met and do everything together.
“She and Luna are inseparable,” according to Schaub to The Dodo. “They sleep, play, and eat with each other.”
Little Luna rapidly became a full-fledged member of the family, and because the little, sleeping cat behaves similarly to a newborn baby, Schaub thought it would be great to do a picture shoot to show her off and welcome her to the world.
“Luna sleeps roughly 20 hours a day, and because I regularly take newborn photographs, we thought it would be fun to shoot a few shots of her that our friends would like,” Schaub said. “She sleeps on our laps all the time and is really affectionate, so I don’t believe she was bothered in the least.” She’d let you do almost anything , if you petted her while you do it!”
Schaub dressed Luna in adorable headbands and swaddled her in various materials, just like she would any other newborn baby for a photo shoot, and captured some of the cutest images ever. She posted a handful of the better photos on her Facebook page, and people went crazy. Everyone who viewed the photographs of Luna was thrilled, and the post has almost 60,000 shares.
“We had no clue it would blow up this much,” said Schaub. “She had no idea what was going on!”
Because Luna’s newborn picture shoot was so successful, Schaub decided to create a calendar out of the best photos and sell it to benefit Save-A-Stray in St. Joseph, Michigan.
“So far, we’ve sold roughly 100,” Schaub added. “I’m hoping to raise a lot more money for them!”
Schaub and her family adopted Luna as a companion for Amelie, and now the little cat is raising funds for a variety of animals in need just by being gorgeous.
