Chicken Little was having a great time with her father, Tony, when he suffered a stroke and ended up in the intensive care unit. Even when he was freed, it was evident that he would no longer be able to care for his beloved cat in the same manner, so one of his neighbors began the sad search for Chicken Little’s new family.
Amanda Hassan had been on the waiting list to be a foster parent with several local rescues and was still waiting to be approved when she noticed a post on a local pets Facebook group from Tony’s neighbor searching for a foster home for Chicken Little. Hassan promptly arranged for her to be taken in, and it wasn’t long before she fell head over heels for the adorable kitty. Hassan formally accepted Chicken Little into her family once it became evident that this was a foster failure situation.
Hassan told The Dodo, “He dubbed her his Little Angel, but we’ve resorted to calling her Chicken Little since she speaks so much.”
Tony moved into a nursing home after being released from the ICU, where he could receive the care and living assistance he required. Even though Chicken Little was secure and happy in her new home, Hassan realized she and her father must miss one other, so she planned a special visit with the aid of Tony’s neighbor.
Despite the fact that the nursing home does not accept dogs, the party decided to give it a shot nonetheless, and they were pleasantly surprised to find that the staff was eager to assist them.
Hassan explained, “The nursing and care professionals basically pretend they don’t see her.”
Chicken Little was a little cautious at first after being released into Tony’s nursing home room, apprehensive of her new surroundings — but as soon as she spotted her father, she couldn’t help but rush over to him for some leg massages and ultimate snuggles.
Hassan observed, “He seemed to light right up when she did it.”
Tony was as delighted to see her as she was to see him, and he was pleased to see his Little Angel again.
