Guy Drops By His Parents’ House And Discovers He’s Been Replaced

When Joseph Sopo moved out of his parents’ house a year ago, he expected them to convert his room into a gym. When Sopo returned home for a visit recently, he discovered that his parents had actually packed his room with stuff — but it wasn’t gym equipment.
It had to be kitties.

Sopo had always been around cats, and the most recent pair he’d known were a brother and sister. When his sibling passed, his parents contemplated it for a month before deciding that the best thing to do would be to adopt a kitten as a companion for their surviving cat.
They only intended to acquire one kitten when they stepped into the shelter that day, but they immediately fell in love with two. Their names were Sophie and Bob, and they chose to adopt both of them.

“They were about to go with only them when the shelter worker told them that if they accepted Bob’s littermate, it would be free,” Sopo told The Dodo. “Because Lucky, the littermate, was so adorable, they couldn’t leave him behind.” So they went from having one cat to four in one afternoon!”
Sopo’s parents began the day with an empty house — no children and only one cat — and by the end of the day, their home was teeming with cute, rambunctious kittens.

When Sopo comes to visit, his room is almost exactly how he left it when he moved out, but for the three kittens that have claimed it as their own. The kittens each have their own distinct personalities, and caring for them and seeing them develop has been just what Sopo’s parents needed after such heartbreak.
“They’re really daring,” Sopo added. “They like playing together and running around the house, climbing their enormous cat fortress, and sleeping on my parents.” Typically, all at once!”

In addition to his new cat siblings, Sopo and his girlfriend just adopted their own cat, a 5-year-old ragdoll called Phoebe, so no matter where he decides to hang out, there will always be cats.

It might be tough for some parents when their children leave home, but one pair seemed to be managing it well.
