Stacee Jones is a dog and cat rescuer who has cared for over a hundred dogs and cats. She believed she’d seen it all until, a few months ago, near to the Jelly’s Place shelter in So Paulo, California (United States), she took in some animals who needed each other.
The woman was originally called to assist a dog that had recently lost her young, which had been abandoned behind a trash in the streets. Soon after, the rescue organization inquired whether she could also take three newborn kittens who had been abandoned by their mother.
The workers at the rescue organization suggested that Stacee attempt to introduce the dog to the lovely kittens to see if she would accept them.
Stacee decided to give it a shot once the kittens arrived home.
She stated to The Dodo:
“I was quite cautious. I sat down with a kitten and close to the small mama dog. I showed her the kitten gradually to see how she reacted. I was concerned she’d snarl or that she wouldn’t take it well.”
Stacee, who was anxious, merely held her breath, waiting for the dog’s reaction, when something remarkable happened: she quickly received the first kitten and licked him.
Stacee introduced the dog to the other two kittens after a little period of waiting and ensuring the dog’s comfort.
Stacee recalls that lovely time and adds:
“She sat down and stroked them in the direction of her. She allowed them to breastfeed. She was really maternal. She understood exactly what to do straight away.”
The savior did not leave her in awe, studying the scenario and witnessing how the dog nursed and cared for the kittens with such tenderness; her enthusiasm was so intense that she began sobbing, she couldn’t believe it.
Moving to a larger corral made the cute new family feel much more at ease. Keeper, the new mother, looked after the cats for 5 weeks.
Stacee stated:
“‘This is so wonderful,’ I thought. I’d never seen anything like that before.”
The kittens were soon breastfed and eating wet food. Stacee isn’t sure if Kepper realized the kittens weren’t hers, but she admired her devotion to them.
Stacee continued:
“She welcomed them on the first day and adored them as if they were her own. It’s extremely reassuring. They all needed each other and are now healthy kittens as a result. They are of different species, yet they have come together. It’s very unique. Dogs and cats are indifferent. They only desire and provide unconditional affection.”
Kepper now has a house and a lovely family. This dog deserves to be happy and to get all of the love she has given.
Kepper and the kittens have surely warmed Stacee’s heart among the cheers that have passed through her home.
The ecstatic rescuer continued:
“I still don’t know how to express myself. It’s such a lovely thing. I was hoping that this might happen, but I also thought to myself, ‘This is ridiculous, this is not going to work.’ Keeper, on the other hand, didn’t care where they came from; she only knew they needed a mother and accepted it.”
