The mother, named ‘Norway,’ gave birth to a litter of gorgeous kittens, but she appeared to be stressed and turned hostile with the babies after a few hours. She didn’t want to be around them, so they placed her in a foster home and sought volunteers to care for the infants.

Little Wanderers said:

“It was suggested after emergency background study that the mother be isolated from the infants since it was too traumatic for her.”

Tyrone and Megan, the parents of a rescued cat who is also a nursing mother, volunteered to assist. Mandy, the cat’s name, had just weaned a litter of seven kittens, and as soon as she heard the babies scream, she ran to take care of them.

The Little Wanderers team includes:

“Although we have excellent bottle feeders, cat mums are the best emotionally and physiologically for kittens. We took a chance and attempted to save these newborn kittens with the help of a nursing queen.”

“Mandy immediately began caring for these babies, licking and nursing them. It caused us to shed happy tears.”

Tyrone and Megan were determined to keep kittens healthy and grow weight at any costs. Sadly, despite veterinarian attempts, only two of the babies survived.

The rescue center also stated:

“These two girls, Iota and Mu, are the only ones who have survived. They are robust, healthy girls who crawl and stroll all over the place and are overjoyed to be alive.”

The black and white babies were already feeding on their own; they were becoming more lively and naughty by the day, yet they kept returning in search of their adoptive mother. The family is pleased and proud of their achievements.

Tyrone frequently spends his time in the cat room playing his guitar; kitties love to be serenaded.

Norway, the biological mother of the kittens, is also recovering, has officially retired from motherhood, and is looking for a permanent home.

The rescue center continues:

“Norway (the biological cat mom) is currently relaxing in a lovely foster home, cuddling up on her host family’s 1000-sheet bed.”

Lota and Mu found a loving adoptive mother in Mandy and grew up healthily thanks to everyone who helped get the kittens started. They are now ready to continue developing and to receive a loving and permanent home.

The rescue center and the host family are overjoyed that the kittens are growing up healthy.

Little Wanderers has been added:

“Despite the terrible odds, we managed to pull off some miracles. Cats amaze us. The prospect of success is what keeps us going.”
