Two kittens named Peppy and Kringle were part of a litter of six small cats, were brought to the IndyHumane rescue facility, in pursuit of a better life. At roughly four weeks old, the siblings  have a strong bond.

While the two boys were content and happy in their foster home, Taylor Smith, an IndyHumane vet, was seeking for a new cat for her cousin, who had recently lost hers after many years together.

Jennifer, the foster mother of the kitties, told:

“Peppy is without a doubt one of the most unusual kittens I’ve ever raised.” From his stunning color to his blue-gray eyes, not to mention his pink nose and black lips,  which give him the appearance of a tiny mouth, and Kringle is a happy and playful kitty, but always the first to relax. He gets along with all the kittens “.

The woman, ecstatic, began sending images of the two kittens to her cousin, hoping she would fall passionately in love with them. When her cousin met Peppy and discovered he had a sibling, she fell head over heals for them and was convinced they had to stay together.

According to Dr. Smith:

“At the end of October, my cousin lost her 20-year-old cat, and she didn’t have a cat in her house.”

At the same time, Dr. Smith got an unexpected letter from her cousin’s husband, who presumably had the same kittens in mind to take home and wanted to surprise her for Christmas.

This is how a plan to surprise the woman was put into action, and every time the vet’s cousin mentioned the pair of kittens to her husband, he said “no” and avoided continuing the topic.

The veterinarian reminds us:

“Every day, my cousin would contact me and say, ‘We have to convince my husband,’ all the while he was messaging me to set up the adoption and get the kittens”

For her part, the woman persisted in telling her husband about the gorgeous kitties, but she had no idea he was planning to surprise her, so she told him they would discuss it on Christmas Eve.

When Peppy and Kringle returned from their spay operation, her spouse worked with Dr. Smith to bring them home the day before Christmas Eve.

Dr. Smith placed the kittens on the sofa as she waited for her cousin to return home. The woman couldn’t believe her eyes when she walked inside the room. She even assumed the kittens were only passing through, and she worried what her husband would say if she saw them. It was at this point when she revealed her surprise.

Dr. Smith continued:

“When I eventually told her that her husband had already adopted them, she burst into tears. It was adorable. It was difficult to keep the secret for so long, but it was worthwhile because she had no idea.”
