Michael Meowers Lurks in the Shadows of Halloween Movie Actor’s Home

A black cat named Michael Meowers lives up to his namesake in the home of the actor from a classic horror slasher.
Actor Nick Castle played the creepy Michael Myers in the original 1979 Halloween movie, but you may not know his real face. Like other horror films of the day, he wore a now-iconic mask.
Today, Castle is a screenwriter and director with a black shelter cat named Michael Meowers. Fans of the horror series are thrilled to see Castle’s posts about the sleek cat on social media.
Michael Myers and Michael Meowers
On February 15, 2019, Castle announced Michael Meowers to the world on Twitter. As he explained, the family adopted the cat from a shelter, hoping he might help with a mouse problem.
“We just got a new cat from the pound. We got him to do some killin’! Mouse killin’. I’ve named him MICHAEL MEOWers,” tweeted Castle.
Apparently, Castle had the right instincts about Meowers. Days later, Michael Meowers was already hunting mice in the house, killing two mice in as many days, a natural-born killer.
Later, Meowers got his own fancy collar, but the cat didn’t seem to appreciate being collared one tiny bit.
“Michael Meowers did not like me putting on his new orange collar.”
The following year, Castle suggested Michael Meowers could help horror film producer Jason Blum, who had a rodent problem at the time.
“Hey J, Nick Castle here. Meet Michael Meowers. Got him last year for same problem. He did the job. Borrow him if you want. Not kidding.”
Michael Meowers the Killer
In an interview with Vice, Castle welcomed comparisons of Michael Myers with an “animal predator.”
“Michael’s head tilts, and his breathing quickens when he goes in closer for the kill, just like a panther’s does,” he said, praising the kitty’s mouse-hunting.
In April 2020, the cat went missing for two days, and Castle suspected a killing spree.
“Happy to report Michael Meowers is back home after a two-day absence. A killing spree?”
As Myers, Castle acted and was also a stuntman, portraying a character who embodies a dark “elemental force,” the fear of the unknown lurking in the shadows. In the script, he’s called “The Shape,” which is why Castle goes by “OG Shape,” the original.
Today, the Halloween series is as popular as ever, with “Halloween Kills” released in 2021. Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode, discovering Myers is still alive. However, James Jude Courtney portrays Michael Myers, while Castle has a cameo scene.
Michael Meowers Fan Art
Soon after appearing on social media, there was a flurry of fan art featuring The Shape and the black cat.
“Mikey likes his new painting. Thanks again, Emily”
Below, Castle wore and gave a shirt featuring Meowers to a fan.
“A fan sent this Michael Meowers photo to me in Los Angeles. I put it on a shirt in Milwaukee. I gave it to a fan in New Jersey. Michael Meowers is a national treasure.”
Michael Meowers Lives Up to His Namesake
Soon after coming home, Meowers was a spicy one, living up to his horror namesake just a little. After he made short work of the mice, he took a break.
“Meowers between kills”
Then, a well-rested Meowers used his “Brazilian jujitsu grappling techniques,” sparring with his furry sibling Pico.

Meowers is a Bit Ferocious
Next, he went on the attack against Castle’s leg.

The Shape on Meower’s Fur?
One day, Castle said he saw the face of The Shape on the cat’s fur.
“Wait! I just saw the image of the Shape in this picture of Meowers! Can you see it?”
On another day, Castle showed how cuddly the kitty could be, but it didn’t last very long.
“Oh, look how much he loves me. You’re so gentle,” he said, meeting sudden resistance from the cat.

For Halloween day, Castle shared a video that looks like Michael Meowers is going rogue on the camera. This kitty really does seem to be the purrfect shadow panther for Nick Castle!
