Pieru has always had a nice side, but he has also always had a naughty side. He’s liked doing things he’s not meant to do since he was a kitten, especially if it includes knocking items off of surfaces.
“One day, shortly after his arrival, he discovered that knocking things over is his passion,” Pieru’s mother, Kerstin Reif, told The Dodo.
Pieru is so keen to knock everything off every surface in the home that he has earned the moniker “Getoffthetable.” Normally, his travels are very innocuous – that is, until he discovered the garbage can.
“Unfortunately, our trash can is right next to the table and clearly makes odd noises when he puts stuff in,” Reif explained. “About a year ago, I misplaced my pen and discovered it in the garbage — but I was certain I didn’t put it there, and it wasn’t lying in such a manner that it could have fallen on its own.”
Reif understood Pieru must have knocked it in, and a litany of items she’d misplaced or lost rushed through her mind. Pieru has been tossing stuff out for a long time with no one noticing.
Now, Reif makes a point of checking the trash can anytime she’s missing something or before emptying it in general, just in case. Pieru is pleased of every item she’s discovered tossed out, including scissors, pencils, the salt shaker, and the TV remote.
Pieru doesn’t bother to disguise the fact that he enjoys knocking stuff over. In fact, he’d rather his family notice him doing it. It’s a lot more enjoyable for him that way.
“He seems so self-assured, I’m convinced there’s even a smile on his face,” Reif remarked. “He glances at us and nudges something… When you say ‘Pieru noooo,’ he smiles and tosses it.”
Pieru’s greatest favorite thing to do is knock items off of surfaces, especially when they land in the trash can, and he has no intentions to stop anytime soon.
