Charity Hendey was sitting in her kitchen when she heard a faint meow — odd, given she doesn’t have any cats. She looked around outside but didn’t see a cat, so she let it go and went about her business. Later, she walked into her garage and located the source of the meow.

A stray cat had broken into her garage and looked very content to be there.

“I sat down, and she jumped up onto my lap and was really affectionate,” Hendey explained to The Dodo.

Hendey spent the next two hours in the garage with the cat, who made it obvious that she planned to reside there now. She had a lot of fun playing in Hendey’s car…

… and in her boat, and appeared ecstatic with the new space she’d found herself in.

The cat eventually went on, but two days later, Hendey discovered she had been trapped in the garage again, and she had the distinct impression that it had been done on purpose.

“She enjoys exploring,” Hendey remarked. “Playing in the boat and scratching on the carpet on the floor. She looked around my car because my window was down.”

Hendey, curious as to where this cat had come from, did some investigation and discovered that the garage cat really belongs to one of her neighbors. Apparently, the daring cat simply enjoys exploring the area, with a particular fondness for Hendey’s garage.

Hendey is relieved that the cat finally has a home, but she still expects to see her “trapped” in her garage all the time.

“I’m sure she’ll be a frequent visitor now that she knows she’ll receive hugs and get to explore more,” Hendey added.
