It’s common to see families abandon their beloved dogs at shelters because many people are ill-equipped to deal with the unknowable. This tale offers us all a useful lesson.
Zara underwent spay/neuter surgery at the Fix’Em facility in Charleston, West Virginia, when she was just a few months old. The veterinarian determined that she should first be checked by a specialist after seeing some respiratory issues.
They requested assistance from the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee (IBKC), a neighborhood rescue organization in Charleston. Little Zara’s first owner was unable to provide her the medical treatment she required to thrive, thus she was in terrible health.
She also didn’t want to be responsible for this kitten’s particular needs because it wasn’t your typical pet. Her rescuers greeted her warmly. They tried to improve her life in any way they could.
Zara was taken to a neighborhood vet for a checkup. She urgently required an MRI for an aggressive diagnosis and potential therapy, it was soon decided. Everyone from the veterinary clinic came to see the unique cat and gave her what she requested: several embraces.
The kitten needed to be sent to a specialized facility outside of Virginia for a thorough assessment.
In an effort to determine Zara’s medical status, two IBKC volunteers quickly made plans to accompany her to The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center. After a few days, they learned the adorable cat’s responses.
Only on her right side can Zara see and breathe correctly. Hers lacks a left nose, and it is impossible to give her one. Her left eye never fully formed. Although lopsided, her brain is safe. She is not in need of any surgery.
This pet’s unusual ailment is thought to be congenital. The veterinarian says Zara is perfectly confident in who she is and that she is adorable, peaceful, and who she is. When they are adopted, most cats run away from her, but she arrived at her foster home prepared to fill every available space.
Zara enjoys cuddling with people and other cats just like any other cat. She is a fantastic company for everyone in her foster home and never complains when she receives her medication.
Zara is the loveliest person and craves affection despite her health issues. Don’t be fooled by this cat’s outward look. Despite certain limits, she is in excellent health, and the veterinarians are in awe at all the progress she has made.
The prejudice of certain individuals will make it difficult for Zara’s foster parents to place her in a home. She is so wonderful and loving, though, that they are confident that when the appropriate moment comes, the perfect person would be drawn to her.
