Four kittens were discovered walking the streets alone and unprotected. Because their mother was nowhere to be found, they needed to seek assistance in order to survive.

Fortunately, concerned passers-by intervened and sent the kittens to the Animal Welfare League of Arlington in Virginia. Penny Richards, an adopted rescue volunteer who brought them to her house and kept an eye on her well-being, looked after them there.

The small kittens were skin and bones when they were rescued, and they were coated with fleas, so they would require a lot of attention and special care.

They were quite close from the start, as though they were trying to console each other about their circumstances. Penny had the following to say about it:

“The first night was a challenge. They couldn’t handle a bottle and couldn’t consume solid foods since they were too young. I prepared a porridge out of wet food for them since they didn’t know how to consume it correctly and they were too young to eat it.”

Penny did not sleep the first night because she wanted to make sure the kittens had food in their bellies. She followed the same procedure for several days, and after much work, the kittens eventually became accustomed to the bottle, gained weight, and her appetite became increasingly insatiable.

They had already accustomed to the interior’s cozy living in a short period. They were given their names and immediately began to appreciate all of the creature comforts that surrounding them.

“Beck, Brook, River, and Bayou were the cats’ names. Bayou has always been my fearless and feisty daughter; at mealtimes, she shouts at the top of her lungs and demands milk.

It only took one of them to figure out how to get on Penny’s lap for the rest of the kittens to follow suit.

They gradually learnt to climb their keeper’s body and now like napping on her lap. Penny had this to say about it:

“As soon as I sit down with them, they want to cuddle up on my lap.” Bayou and Beck like climbing on my shoulder the most. While playing, they all pursue one other and are the best of friends. They can only be found snuggled up on my lap most of the time.”

They’re all lovely fuzzy creatures who have won Penny’s heart. Here’s a quick rundown of each of them:

“Brook, she rapidly became used to her human companions and learned the art of lap hugging. Her fur is just gorgeous, with a warm orange tone that fades into pale grey.”

“Beck has a stunning face to match his stunning spirit. She meows incessantly until she lifts her up, at which point she activates her loud purr motor.”
