A tabby kitten refuses to be left out of a snuggle with his foster mom after seeing his tiny sister getting all the love.

Grace from Los Angeles volunteer-based rescue, Boomer’s Buddies, brings us the story of two of her recent foster babies. With no time to spare, Grace saved them from a shelter where they would soon have been euthanized. As you can see, they are as cute as anything on the planet, and it’s so hard to think about what would have happened if not for Grace.

When Grace arrived, these cuties were less than 2 weeks old, underweight, and covered in fleas. Otherwise, the white girl and tabby boy were healthy and fed normally– a big relief. On TikTok, fans are helping name the kittens.

“I rushed to grab them from the shelter just hours before being euthanized,” Grace posted to Instagram. “The sad truth about neonatal kittens without mamas is that they are the most euthanized population in shelters…with hundreds of thousands being killed every year in the U.S.”

Newborn kittens, Los Angeles, Boomer's Buddies

Shelters nationwide face a flood of newborn kittens, especially during “Spring Kitten Season.” Sadly, they can’t take care of all of them without staff and resources. As Grace says, part of preventing this tragedy requires everyone to spay and neuter pets.

“It’s because they require specialized knowledge and are extremely time-intensive. They need to be fed every 2-3 hours (even throughout the night). Unfortunately, most shelters just don’t have the staff and resources for this. But it’s not their fault! It’s a community problem. So please, please, please spay and neuter your pets!”

Round-the-Clock Feedings for the Kittens

The hard work began once the kittens were safe and clean at home. With kittens this young, they need feeding around the clock, which means little sleep for rescuers. In the end, it’s worth it as they see them grow and prosper, eventually becoming beautiful companions who will make a big difference in many lives.

“These two are a lot of work… with around-the-clock feedings every 2-3 hours. Three days in, and I’m already exhausted! ? But my gosh, are they worth it! They are so darn cute and perfect. It makes me so happy to know that they have their whole life ahead of them now! ?

Even as newborns, these kittens’ purrsonalities are emerging strong. When Grace began cuddling the little girl in her shirt, the tabby boy decided he would not be left out. Seeing his sister enjoying the snuggle, he climbed right over her to get underneath Grace’s chin.

“Oh goodness he just wants to be loved so much and there’s safely in numbers so move over sister..????” commented one person.

Another person noted the FOMO (fear of missing out):

“Aaaaaww, that FOMO is strong with this one!!! ???

Previously, we shared the story of “Joey the Kangaroo Cat?,” a cat with two shortened front legs who once lived feral but was then transformed by Grace. Joey lives with a famous cat named “Kitty Boy,” who has 2.2M fans on TikTok.

✨Tips if You Encounter Kittens✨

Grace shared some great tips if you should encounter kittens. In many cases, people don’t realize the mamma cat is nearby and still caring for them, and it’s generally best to keep the family together.

✨Tips For When You Find Kittens✨

A kitten’s chances of survival are WAY higher with mama. Mama’s milk contains all the goodies for them to be strong and healthy. If you ever spot kittens without a mama, do not just grab them. Chances are that mama is nearby, and you DO NOT want to separate them,” Grace says.

“Are they clean? Are they sleeping peacefully? Do they look healthy? Are they in a safe spot? If yes, leave them alone. Wait till mama comes back and try to keep them together.”

“If they’re filthy, screaming/crying constantly, in a dangerous area, and look like they need medical attention, mama may not be around to care for them properly. This is when you can intervene!”

For kittens that require help, here are some helpful tips from the Humane Society.
