There Are Signs A Cat May Be Sad
By admin / December 1, 2024 / No Comments / Pet Cats
Unlike humans, cats don’t necessarily cry when they’re feeling sad or in pain, though they have other ways of showing it.
According to Daily Paws, there are many other ways that cats vocalize or show that they are in pain, and these signs include but are not limited to:
- Increased vocalization
- Shaking
- Hiding
- Decrease in appetite
- Decrease in activity and an increase in sleep
- Change in the litter box use
- Change in grooming habitats
- Aggression
And it is a must for cat owners to ensure that their cats aren’t showing any of these signs. Daily Paws advocates for once-a-month check-ins with the furry friends, so as to be able to spot physical distresses as soon as possible. Additionally, hissing at the owner may mean that the part that they touched was painful.
When cats do cry actual tears, it usually points towards a possible eye infection or broken tear duct and should be checked by the appropriate doctor.
Once any physical reasons are ruled out, the owner is sure that the cat is just lonely or mourning. It is possible to then make sure that the cat has company, and since they enjoy scents, they could be given their favorite music to listen to or their favorite blanket to relax in.
