Chika’s Tale, From Abandoned Kitten to Aspiring Artist!

Chika’s life began with a nightmare – abandoned in the woods, left in a cardboard box as a helpless kitten – her future uncertain.

Little did she know that fate had a different plan in store, one that would lead her from the brink of despair to a life filled with love, artistry, and unexpected friendships.

Fox is a gentle giant of a dog, with a heart to match her size. Her keen nose led her human companion, Adele, to investigate a curious scent emanating from beneath a coffee plant.

There, hidden from view, lay the cardboard box containing a lone kitten, frightened and hungry, but still clinging to life.

Adele’s heart melted at the sight of the helpless creature. Without hesitation, she scooped up the box and rushed to the nearest veterinary clinic.

The prognosis was better than expected: despite her ordeal, the kitten was approximately four weeks old and in relatively good health, save for a desperate need for a thorough cleaning and some tender loving care.

Back at home, Adele embraced her role as surrogate mother to the tiny feline. She kept the kitten warm, taught her the finer points of self-grooming, and showered her with affection.

Initially mistaking the kitten for a male, Adele christened her new charge “Chiko,” a Spanish term of endearment meaning “boy” or “kid.”

A cozy crate became Chiko’s safe haven, affectionately dubbed “Chiko’s Castle” by Adele.

As the days passed and Chiko blossomed under Adele’s care, a surprising revelation came to light – the little “boy” was actually a girl!

With a mixture of amusement and joy, Adele adjusted the name to “Chika,” celebrating the newfound sisterhood in their household.

Chika’s world expanded rapidly, filled with love and unexpected connections. She formed an unbreakable bond with her savior, Fox, the very dog who had led Adele to her rescue.

As their relationship flourished, Chika’s circle of canine companions grew to include Rafa, a friend’s dog.

Adele wisely took a cautious approach to their interactions, allowing their friendship to develop at a measured pace.

But it was Adele’s profession that truly captured Chika’s imagination. As a ceramicist, Adele spent countless hours in her studio, shaping clay into beautiful works of art.

Chika, ever curious and determined, appointed herself as the artist’s apprentice.

She observed Adele’s techniques with rapt attention, her feline mind whirring with possibilities. Who said a cat couldn’t be a ceramicist? Certainly not Chika!

With unwavering determination, Chika set out to master the craft. Her paws, once so helpless in that forest cardboard box, now yearned to create.

She envisioned a day when her own artistic creations would stand proudly alongside her mom’s, proof of her incredible journey from abandoned kitten to accomplished feline artist.

When not immersed in her artistic pursuits, Chika reveled in the joy of play with her canine family.

The nightmare of her early days faded into distant memory, replaced by the warmth of companionship and the excitement of each new day.

Adele can’t imagine life without Chika and the joy she has brought into the household.

“I still have nightmares about what could have happened to her if I hadn’t found her that day,” shared Adele with We Love Cats and Kittens.

Chika’s tale serves as a powerful reminder of the impact one act of kindness can have. Adele, moved by her experience, became an advocate for responsible pet ownership.

“Every day small kittens are abandoned in similar circumstances to Chika,” explained Adele to We Love Cats and Kittens. 

“Not all are lucky enough to find good and loving homes. This is why it is SO important to sterilise your cat and avoid unwanted babies, like Chika.”

“In many parts of the world, there are sterilisation campaigns where you can take your cat for free or low cost sterilisation,” she added.

“So please take advantage of those!”

As for Chika herself, she sailed through her own spaying procedure with flying colors.

Ever the resilient spirit, she bounced back swiftly, her mischievous and playful nature undiminished.

Her zest for life, whether expressed through her artistic endeavors or her spirited antics, remained a constant source of joy in Adele’s home.

From a discarded kitten in the woods to a beloved family member and aspiring artist, Chika’s journey shows us the transformative power of love, compassion, and the unexpected connections that can shape a life.

In the warmth of her new home, surrounded by the love of her human and canine family, Chika’s story continues to unfold – one pawprint at a time.
