The ocean is full of mystery, beauty, and danger. When some people think of the scariest creatures in the sea, your mind might drift to the depths of the deepest trenches, the creepy open expanses, or the jaws of a Great White Shark–but you’d be surprised to know that most dangerous creature in the sea has no teeth, no spines, no dangling orb of light in front of its jaws. In fact, the critter you should be most spooked by lives in the oceans of Australia: The Blue Ringed Octopus.

Known around the world as the most venomous living creature, the Blue Rings are something you should always avoid. But one octopus enthusiast recently steered his ship towards danger and subsequently learned a valuable lesson in the process. In as little as 20 minutes, the toxins from a Blue Ring’s venom can prove to be unsurvivable for a human, but the ‘Octopus Whisperer’ put aside his fears after discovering a little guy trapped in a plastic bag on the reef. Without hesitation, this diver scooped up the little deadly morsel and brought him home to revive him, learning as much about this funny little critter as he did about himself.

Scroll for the heartwarming story of an octopus that completely shattered its stereotype as the most venomous creature on earth by proving to be the derpiest. After this, here’s some hilarity from onshore, bringing landlubbers into a spectacular mood through this collection of primate memes.
