Meet Flame the arson cat!
When Flame first arrived at Belmont Firehouse in Greenville, SC, he was malnourished but soon made his way to the kitchen and the boys decided to feed him some fried chicken that someone had left in the fridge.
That was it for Flame, he realized he had found his new home.
Flame has fitted in perfectly in his new home and is now a valued member of the crew.
This kitty has made himself at home and has complete run of the place.
He likes to keep an eye on all of the equipment…
And takes his job very seriously.
Here he is doing that all important nozzle inspection.
He loves nothing better than relaxing with members of the crew.
Can you spot Flame?
He loves all the attention he gets – especially the back scratches!
Flame considers himself part of the crew and likes to give a helping paw whenever he can
And when the work is done he loves to have a cuddle with favorite toy.
All of the crew at the Firehouse adore their little feline companion very much
Their job can be very stressful and sometimes heartbreaking, so Flame offers them comfort whenever it’s needed.
And in turn they makes sure he’s tucked into bed every evening!
Flame has since become a cherished presence at the fire department, offering the firefighters not only companionship but also a source of solace during their most challenging and heartbreaking moments.
Additionally, he enthusiastically takes part in educational events with the local children, spreading joy and knowledge alike.
“Flame is a one-of-a-kind cat. Not many cats like the loud noises, but Flame seems to love them. He loves squeeze treats and just about anything we will feed him,” shared Gina Thompson with We Love Cats and Kittens.
“He has now been at Belmont going on 11 years so we estimate he is about 12-13 years old. His hobbies include sitting on laps, napping in the sun and in the bays.” she added.
And a few years ago his efforts were recognized. That’s when this charming orange-and-white firefighter was named ASPCA Cat of the Year!
Way to go Flame! What an amazing cat you are.

UPDATE: This adorable kitty has just made an announcement on Instagram:
“Hello everyone, I have some BIG BIG NEWS!! I will be hanging up my helmet and retiring. Please do not worry, I am fine and my health is good for my age, but my decision to retire was made by me, the chief and of course my vet!”
“Since I’m getting older, being an outdoor kitty was getting more difficult as my eye sight and hearing isn’t what it once was. I will be going home with my mom, Gina. So don’t worry, you will still see me a-lot!”
Gina will still be regularly posting pictures of Flame on Instagram and I’m sure he’ll continue to visit his crew down at the firehouse.
