Brooklyn Rescuers Seek ‘Permanent Patch’ for Pumpkin Orange Cat’s Second Halloween

Brooklyn Cat Cafe shared the story of Rosalind, or Roz, an ‘exceptionally orange’ pumpkin who may spend her second Halloween with the rescuers. Unless that is, this kitty finds her ‘permanent patch’ in a forever home.
Last year, Rosalind got left behind when her owners moved to Florida over the summer. Consequently, she fell into a depression and stopped eating altogether. She was so sad she had to be syringe fed to keep her alive, a difficult proposition since she was also frightened.
Understandably, Rosalind would need time to adjust and learn how to trust people again. Until then, she was spicy and wouldn’t let anyone near her. Give time, patience, and love; cats like Rosalind can become wonderful loving companions again. Unfortunately, cats may withdraw inside their shells in an unfamiliar shelter environment or even a cat cafe. All those new sights and sounds can be stressful. So, it takes the right person to come along and give them a safe foster home environment. Sometimes, a dramatic transformation takes place as once seemingly feral cats become love bugs.
Rosalind Finally Starts Eating On Her Own
Here’s poor Rosalind from 2021, taking her last pill for a while. She finally began to eat on her own after this.
“You may not be able tell, but Rosalind is overjoyed — this is her last pill! Rosalind was left behind by her owners when they moved to Florida this summer — and she stopped eating. After weeks of syringe feeding, diagnostics, vet visits and medications, this gorgeous girl is finally eating on her own! (Also she slapped her caregiver moments after this video was taken.)”
By January, Rosalind was doing better but still was standoffish. Here she is, taking her daily stretch on a perfectly matching orange towel.

Rosalind Would Only Allow Pets from ‘Claw’
Come springtime, Rosalind was still standoffish with the humans. Amusingly, they found a workaround to give her some love with ‘Claw,’ a reach extender tool. The kitty came to enjoy being petted this way and even made biscuits in appreciation.
“We adore all of our cats, but it’s hard not to play favorites when one purrs and makes biscuits for scritches from the giant Claw. Rosalind and her BFF are still available for adoption!”
‘Help Us Get This Pumpkin Home’
Days ago, the Brooklyn Cat Cafe shared a super-cute video of Roz. “Help us get this pumpkin home, with or without Claw,” they said as they showed the cat’s story. Finally, Roz and Claw found a foster home. In the home environment, she decompressed and “relearned that humans kind be kind,” the video states.
“This is Rosalind’s second Halloween with us. While we love having extra pumpkins around in October, we think that it is high time that this sassy lady finds her permanent patch,” they shared.
This pumpkin would like to be the only one in the pumpkin patch, as they share on her bio.
A Golden Tigress
In the description, we learn more about Roz’s wonderful personality. As a cat who prefers to be the only pet, she might be perfect for adults who prefer an independent cat who doesn’t require constant attention.
“Rosalind is an exceptionally orange beauty who loves lounging on soft piles of blankets and smacking down bugs. Her fur is buttery soft, and she prowls around like a golden tigress. Her desire for pets and affection can run into conflict with some baggage from her past — she has gone from getting nervous whenever a hand approaches to accepting head and back pets and, recently, even neck stitches and massages like a breeze. She has also relaxed enough to nudge her foster parent after she wakes up every morning with gentle, repeated rubs and purrs, leaning on her side and displaying her inner affection,” they share.
A Halloween Home with Claw
“Rosalind has got both muscle and brains, loves playing with ribbons, is starting to learn tricks for treats, and is not shy at all when meeting new people. She would be ideal for someone looking for a cool roommate (or work-from-home supervisor) who doesn’t need constant attention but will be super grateful for a sofa to lounge on, some play time to practice her boxing moves, and a little bit of patience to build a trusting bond which can be greatly accelerated by bribing. Rosalind will need to be an only pet, but her friend Claw may be interested in sticking around.”
