Vicky Keahey, the owner of In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Educational Center, saved Lambert, an African lion, in June 2014. At the time, she thought he looked more like a puppy than a lion. The animal was in severe need of aid after being unlawfully purchased by a family who decided they no longer wanted it.

He was enthusiastically transported to the In-Sync Exotics refuge by Vicky.

The shelter’s publicity officer, Angela Culvey, stated:

“The previous owners got it for their children’s use as a pet illegally.”

The children wanted a Simba after seeing the Lion King movie, so their parents gave him Lambert.

After some time, the family realized they couldn’t keep it, so they got in touch with us and asked us to look after it. We were glad to oblige.

Vicky stated:

“According to the previous owners, he shared the bed with his grandfather. So I located a blanket for him and placed it in a corner. He curled the blanket about himself and promptly slept off. I’ve given him one ever since.

Because he couldn’t live in the wild, Lambert, now 2 years old, is still living in the shelter.

Angie stated:

In addition to a covered cave that offers shade and shelter from inclement weather, grass, and a pool that he enjoys playing in, he has more than 2 square miles of area to go about in. Like any other two-year-old lion, he is lively, playful, and full of attitude.
