Statistics show that a cat stays in the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home shelter for an average of 23 days. The tale is different for Monique, a 2-year-old cat, though. She has already spent 121 days at the shelter without being able to find a place to call home.
Despite being too sociable and energetic, she has struggled to be adopted and find a family because of her disease.
Despite the fact that Monique has the simple-to-treat feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), she cannot cohabit with most other cats.
The cat is quite lively and inquisitive, therefore she undoubtedly wants access to the outdoors just like any other cat. But it would be necessary to seal off that area so that no additional cats could enter and contract FIV.
People reportedly hesitate to adopt Monique because of the unique requirements she must meet.
However, Monique remains optimistic and waits in the shelter in the hopes that she would be chosen and given the opportunity to live in her ideal house.
The Battersea Dogs & Cats Home’s communications officer, Nikki Cummins, told The Dodo:
