The Winston Memorial Foundation in Kuwait was founded by Laila D’Souza, who received a tiny cat in need last fall. The four-week-old kitten, which had a perpetually worried expression, was brought to the rescue facility and required particular attention.
Laila greeted her right away and got to work giving the young girl the attention she needed to move forward. Her furball was quite appreciative of all the support and love, and when she was given the name Mia, she gradually started to get better.
“She was taken away from her mother and given one week to survive before being sold to a household. She had severe digestive issues, worm infestation, and other illnesses. As soon as I held her, I knew she would recover.
Mia rapidly became a pretty vivacious and cheeky young girl as she recovered. Leya, Laila’s dog, was a favorite of Mia’s, and she liked playing with her, pounced on her, and generally enjoyed being around her.
Leya’s friendship benefited the kitten, who explored everything with her new buddy despite her little stature and searched for Leya to play with all the time.
Mia was a cheerful cat with boundless activity. She had a large appetite and would totally submerge herself in the food bowl to sate it. Everyone in the house enjoyed seeing her play about.
Every time Mia fixed her eyes on a target, she rocked her hindquarters back and forth to prepare for a strong jump. Mia had a curiously frightened expression on her face.
Says Laila:
She is lively, loving, and inquisitive. She’s so cute, and she usually has those huge anxious eyes while she’s attempting to catch anything.
Petey and Furends and 4Paws Rescue Team, two animal rescue organizations in the Washington, DC metro region of the United States, made the decision to work together to help these tiny ones get a second shot and find the home of their dreams.
Some volunteers and neighborhood rescuers were ready for Mia when she landed. Before joining the family of her dreams, the naughty cat had her first Christmas in the United States. Upon arrival, she promptly claimed the fluffiest and softest bed for herself.
Mia was formally adopted by the family that was waiting for her after the new year’s festivities. Mia has a feline friend for her travels in her new home, and the gorgeous cat is showered with affection all the time.
