Rescuer Beth Stern has been caring for the Marshmallows, three white, fluffy clouds/kittens that have been a favorite for many followers. Not only did Stern care for the “paralyzingly cute” kittens, but also their beautiful blue-eyed mom and later dad too!

A Family of Marshmallows

The kittens’ mother is Mama Stella Marshmallow, and their father is Norman Marshmallow, all floofy white cats. However, Stella looks a bit like a lightly toasted marshmallow with pointed accents.

It’s a rarity to see a whole family of cats together in foster care, and this one is so pretty they don’t even look real. But Stern says she has the proof they are real because she cleans the litterbox.

The Parents Were Dropped at a Shelter Together

Both adult cats were dropped off at a shelter by a family who kept the pregnant mama cat’s previous litter of kittens, Stern explained on Instagram. Fortunately for both cats, Stern took them in around mid-February.

Her family kept her first litter of kittens but now has too many cats, so they gave Stella and her unneutered boyfriend up. And guess what? Stella has a belly full of babies again. Please spay and neuter your pets. My heart hurts that she has to go through this again. Welcome, Stella Marshmallow. Her boyfriend is safe with a friend of mine until we can reunite them after she nurtures her babies and both are altered. (Spayed and neutered).”

Countdown to Baby Marshmallows

After much anticipation, Stella grew rounder, and there was a “countdown to baby Marshmallows.” At long last, she gave birth to three perfect little white fluffy furballs on March 24.

By April 3, the first of the kittens opened their eyes for the first time. Mama Stella continued to care for them lovingly, moving them from place to place in the home in her instinct to protect them.

Growing Up Fast

By late April, the three kittens were adventurous and playful, venturing to explore their playroom. Now, they were finally bigger than Ralphie Rat.

Daddy Norman Meets His Babies

Finally, on May 12, Daddy Norman arrived at the Stern home. The next day, he met his kids for the first time, behaving like a good dad. Although the kittens seemed to love dad, Stella’s instincts to protect the kittens left her cold with Norman.

Separately, he spent afternoons with the kids, babysitting while Stella napped. By late May, Norman found a forever home with a new family. And by June, it was time for the marshmallows to leave the nest too. It all seemed to happen so fast!

Two Marshmallows Find a Home

The bonded brothers, Popcorn and Cotton Ball Marshmallow, both passed the milestone of getting neutered. The following week was CoCo and Stella’s turn to be spayed.

“I just told Coco Cream Marshmallow that her brothers are losing their balls today and she thinks it’s funny.? (spay next week for her!)”

On June 6, the boys went to a new forever home together, a bittersweet moment for followers. As always, it’s difficult to say goodbye for any foster care provider. But, by letting go, Stern can make room to save and change many more lives for cats and people. As you’ll see next, that’s just what happened with CoCo recently.

CoCo Helps Mend a Broken Heart

On June 7, it was CoCo’s turn to start a new life. As it turned out, she would be an angel for another of Stern’s foster kitties from two years ago, who used to be called Breezy. Sadly, Breezy (now Frankie Jae) recently lost her friend Georgia in her forever home. When CoCo arrived, she would help heal Frankie Jae’s broken heart.

“Dear Coco Marshmallow, 2 years ago I had a very special foster kitten named Breezy. Her new mom changed her name to Frankie Jae. Frankie Jae became very bonded with their resident kitty (who was white like you!). Sadly, her best friend passed away a few months ago, and Frankie Jae has been very sad. You will heal her sad heart with your gentle and sweet little soul! You will bring such smiles to your new family! Oh.. and you have a doggie sibling too!!!! Love, Beth & Stella Marshmallow (your first 2 moms) ?????.”
