Cowboy was rescued as a kitten by Fishtails Animal Rescue in Philadelphia. When he became ill with an upper respiratory infection, Cat Keegan, a rescue volunteer, volunteered to foster him until he recovered — and immediately recognized the cat had become a foster fail.

Keegan has three other cats, including several special needs rescues, in addition to Cowboy, and Cowboy is unquestionably the head of the group. He’s always getting into things and going places he shouldn’t, and his mother has become used to it.

“He’s an expert at making mischief, and he’s much too intelligent for his own good,” Keegan told The Dodo.

Cowboy’s favorite method to get into trouble is to attempt to steal food. Whether he’s going through the trash…

… or creeping around inside the fridge, the wicked cat is always looking for ways to devour stuff he shouldn’t.

“Eating human food is his life purpose,” Keegan explained. “I frequently have to put him in a different room simply so I can cook and eat. He even attempts to eat the opposite end of a burrito or a slice of pizza. If he can get his hands on it, he’ll lick a bowl of spaghetti sauce clean.”

Keegan works as a vet tech at a 24-hour hospital in addition to her rescue job, so she’s very good at keeping up with Cowboy’s antics — but sometimes he’s just too quick.

Keegan had lately gotten home from the supermarket and had put all of the items in the kitchen before running to the restroom. She had only been out of the room for a moment…

… yet that was all it took Cowboy to rummage through the grocery bags and rip into a pack of tortillas.

“He took bite of every single tortilla in the pack,” Keegan explained. “Twenty tortillas.”

Cowboy had managed to bite through every single tortilla in under a minute, and his mother wasn’t sure whether she should be angry or impressed.

“He’s become an expert at this,” Keegan remarked.

Cowboy, of course, tried to flee with one of the tortillas so he could eat it alone, but his mother managed to catch him. Despite this, he managed to do a lot of food damage in a short amount of time and is most likely already planning his next theft.
