Smucky has always been stressed out by shelter life, but he’s just found a passion that makes it a little easier to bear — and he’s hoping to find a forever family that loves that enthusiasm just as much as he does.

Cobb County Animal Control in Marietta, Georgia, picked up Smucky as a stray and took him to their shelter. They soon saw how disturbed the 6-year-old cat was by shelter life, as he was always meowing anytime he was in his cage, and decided to help him by transferring him to Best Friends Lifesaving Center in Atlanta, where they could help to satisfy his requirements a bit better.

When Smucky initially came at Best Friends, they anticipated that, based on what the shelter had told them, he wouldn’t be very friendly or get along well with other cats — but this was not the case. Smucky simply loves his space and prefers to take things slowly when it comes to other cats, so Best Friends staff members opted to place Smucky in the manager’s office to offer him the peace and quiet he appeared to need.

Smucky came out of his shell once he was living at the office and was less bothered by shelter life. He morphed into a very talkative, gregarious cat who is constantly seeking attention…

Smucky’s favorite thing in the entire world is going for stroller rides. He meows at his shelter friends all day until they agree to take him for a walk, and once he’s out and about, soaking in the sights from the protection of his beloved stroller, he’s never been happier.

“He patiently waits until he hears someone approaching, then utilizes his incredible voice and hypnotic eye to lure you to say hello,” Nichole Dandrea, social media community manager at Best Friends Animal Society, told The Dodo. “In Smucky’s view, once you’re in, you’ve committed to a stroller walk.” Smucky is glad to slip himself inside the stroller to make things easy for you.”

Of course, Smucky enjoys cuddles and attention from all of his favorite humans, but nothing beats a stroller trip, and he’s not hesitant about letting everyone know.

“Once you take Smucky on a stroll, he’s your friend for life,” Dandrea explained.

Whoever adopts Smucky must also take his stroller, or Smucky will not go anywhere. His stroller trips serve to keep him calm in an often dangerous and stressful environment, and his shelter pals would never want him to lose that.

Smucky could live with other cats, but he requires a home that knows that he prefers to take his time and develop bonds with new furry companions. Aside from that, Smucky just wants a family to adore him and give him the attention he’s never received before — and, of course, to take him on stroller rides.

“With his eccentric attitude and goofy antics, Smucky has grabbed the hearts of employees and volunteers at Best Friends in Atlanta,” Dandrea added. “He’s seeking for a long-term partner who respects his sense of style.” If that describes you, brace yourself for late-night conversations, summer evening walks, late-night lap snuggling, and plenty of amusement.”
