Edgardo has saved lives of 500 stray dogs and he ended up earning the nickname of “Savior of the Dogs.” His story is truly one of a kind and a true inspiration! His actual name is Edgardo Juarez but people would mostly refer to him as Edgardo Perros. In Spanish, Perros means “dogs”. Edgardo has spent 6 years walking around his country with one mission – to save as many stray dogs in Mexico as possible. According to Edgardo, injured dogs in cities would often be taken care of but in rural areas, things are different. Those dogs get ignored in rural areas. With this thought in his mind, he grabbed his 3 pups and set out on a journey to help these poor creatures.

While he travels across the borders of Mexico, he would rescue the dogs who are hurt, abused or abandoned. According to Edgardo, “no one helps dogs living homeless on the roads. This is where I saw their pain,”. He feeds those dogs, provides them medical assistance, trains them and then he tries to find a loving home for them. Not only that, he even shelters them on his tricycle until he’s assured that the dogs are in good condition to be adopted. Uptil now, he has managed to rescue about 500 dogs.

What a beautiful sight!

Edgardo started his journey from Nayarit, Mexico and that’s where he’s originally from. He has already been through Quintana Roo, Baja California, and Nuevo León. He carries everything he needs on his Tricycle. Whether it’s clothes, food, water, medicines, you name it! And let us tell you, it is not an ordinary tricycle, he built it specially to fulfil his needs.

Edgardo that the saddest part isn’t the horrible condition of the dogs he rescues but rather knowing the fact that humans are the ones who put them in this condition. I think it’s high time that we start thinking about this. Where are we headed? Why would anyone want to hurt a voiceless and a helpless creature who has got nothing but love to give.

People are truly fond of his compassion!
